Bouquet of flowers – riverscape, wide

Composed of several aerial shots, this work shows one example of the wonderful world of Iceland's Highlands: In a valley, grooves and rivers intertwine, shaping the land into majestic forms, symbolising resilience and interconnectedness. Rivulets, streams and brooks seemingly run over and under each other, crossing, parting, and melting again.

Thomas Hartstang is an internationally awarded landscape photographer whose practice spans analogue photography through to contemporary digital photographic art. He is self-taught, while also regularly working alongside well-known landscape photographers, and serves as Vice President of the Schleswig Photo Club, the fourth largest photography club in Germany.

His approach is rooted in patience and observation, transforming natural environments into photographic dreamscapes by noticing what is often overlooked and capturing moments that remain hidden to many. His work involves extensive time outdoors, often in challenging conditions, followed by a careful post-production process focused on composition, colour, and contrast, working from RAW files and adhering to competition standards without the use of AI.

His photographs are regularly exhibited in solo and group exhibitions both nationally and internationally. Born in Mainz, Germany, he now lives in Hasselberg near the Danish border.
