Description

A father and son appear to face each other like mirrored reflections, recognising the likeness. The birds become our stand-ins. Like us, they face isolation, control, adaptation, and the longing for freedom in constructed worlds, echoing the physical and emotional cages we often build around us. I explore the tension between freedom and captivity through photographs of birds in my sanctuary for mistreated birds. After European colonists captured them in Australia, the species has lived for generations in artificial environments.
